Babolat Veron Air 2021 Review

Babolat Veron Air 2021

Babolat Veron Air is a racket for players looking for speed. Excellent at the net and offers good defensive qualities as well. Lacking some true power. Could be an option if you believe the Viper Air is too stiff. We have published an updated review of the 2022 version here and a complete guide to the 2022 Babolat collection.

Introduction

The racket has a teardrop shape, medium balance, and a sweet spot located slightly above the center of the racket head.

Veron Air has a core made of Black EVA and the surface is made of the new material Carbon Flex. It combines carbon fiber for explosivity with glass fiber to make it easier to generate speed.

The frame consists of carbon fiber and Babolat has implemented 3D-Spin on the surface to help generate effect when needed. The new Vibrasorb system reduces vibrations and the risk of injuries.

Like previous models, the Viper Air uses HPS-technology. The placement of the drilled holes is adjusted according to the racket shape to provide a better grip.

First impression

Veron Air looks practically identical to the Viper Air, sharing the same shape and design. We like the matte finish and the color combination, we think it’s the best looking version of the three.

A great feature is the longer grip, perfect for players using two-handed backhands. Our test racket weighs about 356 grams with two overgrips and the balance measured 260 mm.

Babolat Veron Air 2021

Babolat Veron Air 2021 in the defense

We notice straight away that the Veron Air is more playable than the Viper Air. It has a softer touch and is more comfortable thanks to the glass fiber components.

Despite being intended as a primarily attacking-oriented racket, it delivers good results in defense. It’s easy to move into the right positions. As the Veron Air is softer than the Viper air, it’s easier to generate speed from the back of the court. The size of the sweet spot is also bigger, but it’s still a racket that requires good technique and experience.

Babolat Veron Air 2021 in the attack

To improve maneuverability, Babolat had to sacrifice some power. The Veron Air lacks that final power that some other power oriented rackets provide.

Babolat has defined a specific playing style for this racket and has done it well in our opinion. It delivers what it’s supposed to do, speed.

Babolat Veron Air 2021 playability & comfort

Playability and comfort are important factors when choosing a padel racket. Beginners and intermediate-level players generally benefit from a racket with good playability. A comfortable racket reduces the risk of injuries.

Overall impression

So which one should you get, the Viper Air or the Veron Air? Well, it depends on your preferences. If you are a technical player that prefers hard rackets, go for Viper Air. Otherwise, go for Veron Air. It’s cheaper too.
